Becoming A Christian

UNDERSTAND YOUR NEED FOR FORGIVENESS.

God is the great creator, and as such he created you to have a relationship with him.

The problem is every person has disobeyed God and failed. This failure is called sin. Romans 3:23 says all people have sinned and fallen short of God’s expectations.

In fact, according to God’s laws your sin is punishable by eternal death.

But God loves you and wants to show you his love.

REALIZE GOD’S PLAN FOR FORGIVENESS.

Since you cannot satisfy God’s requirement to overcome your failures through good works, God chose to provide the way for forgiveness.

God sent Jesus, his son, to take your place and die for your sins. Jesus lived a perfect life without sin. Because of his perfection he satisfied God’s requirements. Jesus willingly died on a cross to take away your failures, so God can offer you forgiveness.

Not only did Jesus die for your sins, but he rose again from the dead to defeat death for everyone. Because of his resurrection, you can have eternal life if you believe in Jesus.

To receive this free gift of forgiveness you must follow the ABC’s.

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO FORGIVENESS.

“A” Admit you are a sinner who needs God’s forgiveness.

“B” Believe Jesus died for your sins and rose from the dead to offer you eternal life.

“C” Commit your life to Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.

If you offer a prayer to God and admit you’re a sinner, tell God you believe and then ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you can receive forgiveness.

Here is an example prayer you can follow:

"Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I know I have chosen to disobey you, but here and now, I ask you to forgive me as I repent of my sins. I believe you died on the cross for my sins. I believe you rose from the dead for me, and I ask you to save me as I commit my life to you right now as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name. Amen."
